Do you need a buffer to polish
plastic?
-
ANSWER: Buffers are not required to polish plastic surfaces with Janvil Plastic Restore
System. All that is required is a clean, soft, smooth cloth or high grade
paper towel. In many cases, using a high speed buffer can actually damage
the plastic surface.

4.
Can Janvil
Plastic Restore be used on a Plastic Windshield?
-
ANSWER: Janvil can be used to improve the look of any plastic surface as
long as it is not textured, coated or painted. In the case of a
windshield, 99% of them do not have any type of coating. If you are not
sure about it, you can call the manufacturer of the plastic component and ask
them. Our product has also proved to be very effective on helmet face
shields.

5.
Can Janvil fix scratches on an LCD
screen, LCD monitor or a big screen TV?
-
ANSWER: LCD screens and big screen TVs can be polished as long as it has a screen
protector on it. This screen protector is an additional layer of plastic that
is either placed in front of the actual screen or is permanently bonded onto it.
Many of the older screens did not automatically come with a screen protector but
they could be added at an extra expense. Depending on the age and
manufacture for the screen, you may or may not have a protector on it which means
you may or may not be able to polish it.
The best way to determine if it has a screen protector is to ask the
manufacturer. Another way to determine if one is present is to take a
close look at the screen. If it appears to have a glossy, shiny, 100%
smooth finish to it, you are in luck because it most likely has a screen
protector and our product can be used on it. If the screen has a dull,
eggshell or matte looking finish to it, it does not have a protector or there is
a coating over it and attempting to polish it with Janvil or any other type of
product will only make the appearance a lot worse and cause irreversible damage
to it. If you are not sure about the screen, call the manufacturer of the
screen and ask them. They should know their product and if it can be
polished.
If you have determined
that the screen can be polished, the full 3 bottle Plastic Restore kit is the
system for the job.

6.

7.
Can the Plastic
Restore system be used on Counter Tops?
-
ANSWER: It all depends what the counter top is made of and how severe the damage is.
If the counter top is made of Corian®
or other like solid surface, the Janvil Plastic restore kit can do wonders.
If the counter top surface is laminated, such as Formica,
your success may be limited. This is because Formica is a composite made
up of a wood particle board with a thin plastic coating covering it. It
the damage that you are trying to fix passed completely through this plastic top
coating, it can not be repaired. If the damage is minor, Janvil plastic restore
may bring new life to the counter top.

8.
Can the Plastic
Restore system be used on CD's And DVD's?

9.
Can ATV/Motorcycle fenders be polished?
-
ANSWER: The plastics used on ATV's and similar toys have a gloss coat that is created
from the way that the plastics are molded. Once these surfaces become scratches
and dulled, they can not be polished back to a gloss finish. Our product will
fix the scratches but the dull area will remain to some extent. Our JANVIL
Plastic Shine may be used to help these dull surfaces but reapplication will
be required.

10.
Can
Plastic (PVC/PE/HDPE) Outdoor furniture be polished and restored?
-
ANSWER: The soft plastics used on some
outdoor furniture, PVC and polyethylene, have a gloss coat that is created
from the way that the plastics are molded. This gloss coat is on the outer
finish and is not all the way through the plastic. Once these surfaces become scratches
and dulled, they can not be polished back to a gloss finish. Our scratch
remover product will
fix the scratches but the dull area will remain to some extent. Our JANVIL
Plastic Shine may be used to help these dull surfaces but reapplication will
be required.

11.
Can I use
Janvil to fix my eye glass or sunglass lenses?
-
ANSWER: We do
not recommend the use of our product on eyeglasses for a couple reasons.
There is a possibility that polishing them can change the prescription.
Since many eyeglasses are coated with a UV blocker or other like finish,
polishing the surface of the lens may damage and remove this coating.

12.
Can
Plastic Restore be used on textured rough finish plastics?
The way that a scratch is removed from a plastic surface is by
polishing the area to blend or feather away the scratch. If a plastic part
has a textured or matte finish, there is no way to duplicate this look of
the finish. If you try to polish it, you will remove the scratches but you will
leave a flat shiny spot where you used the compounds.
In short; if the plastic has a textured surface, there is no way
to repair it. Although scratches can not be removed from the textured
plastic, the surface can however
be cleaned up and the appearance improved with the use of Janvil Plastic Shine.
